Smalltalk

Throughout this document, Smalltalk stands for various Smalltalk systems:

VisualWorks (ObjectShare)
SmalltalkAgents (QKS)
VisualAge (IBM)
Smalltalk-X (eXept Software AG)
Various free implementations (GNU Smalltalk, A Little Smalltalk, Squeak)

Most of them have an interactive development environment which is comparable to the original Smalltalk browser (although some of the free implementations probably don't).

When referring to the Browser, I normally mean the Browser as implemented in Smattlka-80/VisualWorks and described in the 'blue book'. Other Smalltalk systems have somewhat different features, but since I'm not familiar with them, I don't use them as examples.
